hello. my name is mike and i have just graduated from my college with a first class degree. i have recently won the british airways young photo award for 2008. i am very excited about my life just now and the reaction that my work has created not only from the public but from gallery owners that have seen my show. i just want people to see my work. i very much hope you enjoy what i am sending you. my work is shot on large format negative and makes use of a miniaturising technique called 'tilt shift photography'. what i actually do is find environments that i believe to look like scale models which isnt hard in todays plastic world. then i emphasize the model aesthetics by dressing up actors in costumes that i produced to look like toy army men.THE TOY MEN ARE REAL PEOPLE IN REAL ENVIROMENTS. THERE ARE NO PHOTOSHOP INSERTS. in a world that is so artificial on its own there is no need for digitally inserting the toy men.
