Miriam Stern is a painter, printmaker, and installation artist. She has exhibited both in the United States and Israel, and has won numerous awards and prizes. She usually works in series that often uses Jewish values and ideas as her themes. Her art has been reproduced in magazines and books of poetry. In addition to producing art, she has curated several art exhibitions and also lectures about Art as Midrash.
Her abstract oil paintings use imagery from prints and collages that she has produced. The origins of the prints are photographic and have become more and more abstract as each piece is created. By the time the oil painting is completed there is little of the original photo left to recognize.
Miriam Stern attended the High School of Music and Art and continued her education at the City College of New York and The New School for Social Research. She studied printmaking at Pratt Graphics Center in N.Y. and the Art Center of Northern New Jersey. She has exhibited throughout the United States and Israel in various one woman and group shows.
