Mona Tak

Mona is an artist based in Santa Ana, California. Mona’s work examines the intricate patterns and vibrant colors that surround us all. Mona captures bits of fleeting beauty often overlooked.

Mona was born in South Korea, the youngest of seven children. She first developed an interest in art while studying industrial design in college. After graduation, Mona embarked on a career in the fashion industry that took her first to Seoul and Hong Kong and later around the globe to New York City.

Mona studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology and worked for more than a decade in New York creating whimsical handbag designs inspired by floral patterns and bright colors. As her interest in art grew, Mona spent nights and weekends taking classes at the Art Students League where she honed her drawing and painting skills.

In 2016, Mona moved to the West Coast first settling in San Diego and later moving to Santa Ana where she currently works and creates fueled by Southern California’s natural beauty and abundant light.
