Lawrence Marshall

Born in Brighton, Sussex in 1953, Lawrence has been photographing for over forty years, mainly in film but recently in digital formats.

Lawrence's imagery is borne from intense observation and interpretation,particularly with natural subjects.One of his major quests is the maximisation of detail in the rendition of nature. While natural light can be intensely exciting to work with, Lawrence's imagery is not confined to this kind of light. Toned and dyed black and white images form a growing part of his output.Lawrence has produced Intaglio (photoEtch ) images. Influences include David Hamilton,Ansel Adams,Cecil Beaton and Dorothea Lange.

Art influences include Andrew Wyeth, Carravaggio,Sargent and the French Impressionists.
Several book projects are under way and Lawrence is currently exploring abstract reflections.

Lawrence's work is in many private and public collections including the State Parliamentary Art Collection.
