Natalia Manley

I am a textile artist born in Portugal but I have lived in the UK for nearly 50years.
I started my working life with British Airways and for the next 14years worked for Cathay Pacific and Emirates Airlines also.
In 1988 after a momentous decision, I started creating textile art full time. I haven’t stopped since. I love a challenge and I have undertaken many sucessful commissions.
For my Studio pieces I usually work instinctively from an idea , developing and changing it if necessary as the work progresses.
I use many techniques in my work and many different types of fabric which I often overpaint
My Studio work is very bright and optimistic, but I have also made many sad artworks...

I started my education in my native Portugal and in the UK I attended Aylestone School in London , followed by Harrow College and School of Art

I have exhibited my work widely in the UK and Usa.
I have also exhibited in Brazil, Portugal,France,Spain and Dubai.
My most recent exhibition was in May 2018 in Sonning UK.
In 2008 I was invited to show my work at the European Commission in London with the support of the EU and the Portuguese Government.
