Nathalie Mauresmo

I was born in 1966 in Mont de Marsan (France). As a child, I discovered during long walks in the countryside and at the edge of the Atlantic ocean that nature is an infinite source of emotions ans a way of escaping the daily newspaper. Many years afterwards, I find in Brittany this feeling of freedom in a country where traditions, wild nature and forces of the elements merge and grow rich to offer a disconcerting spectacle, at the same time melancholic and violent.From dark blues to luminous ocres, nature and its imperceptible power are my source of inspiration. Only nature knows how to make each instant so that it will never repeat itself in the same place. By my painting I want to translate my emotions facing each moment, the energy of the sea, the wave witch craches against a cliff a rainy Sunday afternoon. Effects of matter and colour create an atmosphere propitious to express the impressions of melancholy and violence.Hot colours and lights collide in an atmosphere sometimes of violence, sometimes of mistery.The ambience of my paintings leads towards melancholy, invite to daydreaming, and in most cases transports you into another world, a world of nature and diversity

During several years, I studied art history and followed the courses at the Ecole du Louvre. In the fiels of the pictorial technique, I worked several years in various courses of drawing, painting, sculpture (course Helena Hammer, Beaux Arts of the 11th district of Paris, workshop of sculpture of the 11th district of Paris), but also Chinese painting or modern art. I tried out various techniques before turning to the acrylic painting which enables me to work the matter mixed with various gel of structure, mortars or sands.
