I was born and raised in Turkey (Izmir). My interest in art started at very early ages. I remember spending countless hours drawing figures on anything that I could lay my hands on. Most of my early drawings were used as kindling material in our coal stove.
In the high-school years, I didnt have much opportunity to develop my art, because I was led to believe that art should remain as a hobby in life. I studied Microbiology at the university. I devoted all my time to science and obtained B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees. Although studying science gave me a different perspective in life, I still regret today that I didnt study art at university.
Following the university years, I took art classes on a regular basis, but art remained as a hobby because I had a full-time job as a microbiologist. It was only after I immigrated to Canada, I realized that I wanted to be an artist. I first started experimenting with watercolors on my own, and I attended a few community courses. Then I completed Diploma Program of Ottawa School of Art at June, 2009.
Currently, I live in Ottawa with my husband and my daughter. My studio is in Ottawa, Barrhaven
