Nermine Amer (b.1986) is an Egyptian artist who lives & works in Cairo, Egypt. She graduated from the American University in Cairo with a double degree in Broadcast Journalism & Theatre as well as a minor degree in Art. Art is a big part of every interest she has been drawn to & considers it to be a very personal endeavor. Nermine always had a strong affinity to both performing & visual arts. Working in Theatre for years mainly as a set designer on major productions both as an undergraduate & as a freelancer post-graduation taught her how to think conceptually & gave her multiple opportunities to put her artistic skills to work. For her, the process of creating a set on stage is much similar to creating a painting.
Her body of work is mostly abstract art that is influenced by different styles leaving a wide range of ideas for her as an artist. She is enamored with shapes; lines, colors & forms as she creates emotionally charged paintings that are imaginative & flamboyant in nature.
