With my work I try to capture the essence of chance in a free form abstract style. . On the blank canvas I use the surrealist technique of Automatism, by starting in one section of the space of the square or rectangle of the canvas and pretty much complete the first section and move on to the next sometimes a growth of the first and other times a completely different area. When I first started to experiment in paint I would work with large-scale canvas and brushes, which trained my eye into the style I currently use. Different areas are almost a total separate section from the field of vision with large scale and although I have moved to easel size I approach the surface very closely and one area has a different focus of color, mark, and stroke size than to the other. I then step back to make cohesion of the parts, sometimes referencing certain areas in different places. I like to use expressive marks, solid lines, and brash colors.
Color is the major source of my expression. Mother Nature brings her gifts of color to my pallet. The internal emotions, which are sparked, take me to a place to dwell at length. The quality of color has so many dimensions, which reach deep caverns within us. Kandinsky writes about it in C...
