Nick Gonzalez is a British-born artist living and working in Hamburg since 2002. He studied painting, illustration, graphic design and film-making in London and Brighton, England, first at Hornsey College of Art and Design, then at Brighton University and did post-graduate work at the Royal College of Art.
After graduating, he worked at the University of Sussex as designer and media producer, after which he formed his own creative design company based in Brighton. Over many years he has developed his interest in painting, exhibiting regularly in group shows at the Brighton International Arts Festival, with solo exhibitions in England, Spain and Germany, and his work is now held in private collections in England, Spain, Cyprus, USA and Germany.
Personal Statement
"I am inspired by the natural worlds of landscape & seascape. The use of natural motifs such as the wind-swept sea or the life cycle of trees offers up a perpetual rich source of artistic possibilities. My work is rooted in the British and French Schools of landscape painting, dynamic traditions which have been constantly refreshed and renewed over the years by many of the most gifted painters in European art. 1977-79 Travelling - Asia, USA and Europe.
1980-2001 Formed Rock Graphics in Brighton: own company/partnership working in advertising, illustration and educational publishing.
Since 2002, fulltime painting, working in Germany and England.
