Nicolene Burger

I am a multimedia artist that mainly works in painting, performance, and installation art.

Through my painting process, I flip the lens inwards and study the qualities of art that assist memory, healing, connection, and spiritual growth.

In my performance art, I extend my body to become a ground on which can be projected, sketched, and painted; which can be interacted with, picked up, hurt, loved, and manipulated.

After completing her BA (Fine Arts), I became interested in creativity's emotional, physical, and spiritual sustainability. Since then, I have started guiding meditative art experiences, facilitating sessions for blocked creatives, and embodying the Creativity Doula - assisting in the birth and death of creative projects.

By creating complex sensory art experiences that involve the body of the viewer/participant through taste, smell, sound, and often through the physical engagement with my artworks, I hope to relay more directly the sense of vulnerability with which I make art and the core belief to my practice: Art is a crucial and powerful bridge of communication that can offer understanding, healing and connection.
