Earle Parker

Concurrent with professional casting I have the experience of having taken classes at the Cape Technicon (1966—1970 ) and having taught in their sculpture department for fourteen years (1970-- 1984) consequently I am able to advise and assist in all aspects of three dimensional creativity from conception to the ultimate patination, polishing and presentation of an enduring artwork.In 1966, on an extended tour, I visited art galleries in Amsterdam, Paris, Madrid, Florence, Rome and New York. As a consequence my peripheral interest in sculpture coalesced and on my return to Cape Town, i enrolled for sculpture classes under the tutelage of Michael Mitford -- Baberton, at the Cape Tchenicon. In 1970, following three years of instruction, I was invited to teach in the sculpture department as a part time lecturer and in 1978, I took the diploma examination and was awarded a distinction in sculpture ( Eric Laubcher being one of the judges) I taught in the sculpture dept till 1984.
