Olga Gerke was born in 1970 in St Petersburg and studied at art college associated with Schtiglitz Academy (applied arts and graphic design) but took a u-turn and graduated from law department in St Petersburg university. After moving to UK because of her husband's job she worked at various galleries and Manchester Museum and finally settled in Manchester Central library.
Her works were exhibited in Manchester (Everyman Art Gallery, Noma Plant, Galleria Quattro, Didsbury Parsonage) and abroad (Kathmandu, Nepal, Myanmar (Burma), Fabriano (Italy)). She also enjoys teaching art to children and adults. She organised Painting Picnic in a Park and leads regular "art in the library" sessions in Manchester Central library.
She works predominantly in watercolour and enjoys painting portraits, still lives and landscapes in realistic manner.
Her recent style is bold, decorative still lives and landscapes of Manchester executed just when lockdown was lifted. Her balcony with plants and a fish tank is an urban oasis and constant source of inspiration for her.
