Olga Shatokha

Born and raised in Ukraine, I moved to Portugal in 2018 where I'm currently based.
Film photography has always been my medium. I was 19 when I picked my first camera, a soviet-era Zenit. Since then I could never get over the beauty of film, as well as the sweetness of suspence when I wait for the results. But most importantly, the intimacy I am able to establish with an object or a person that I am photographing, without the possibility to check the outcome during the process. For me, this is a precious and fragile process, as art should be.
I shoot both 35mm and 120mm film.
My topics range from landscapes and street photo to still life and portrait.
I am inspired by Olga Tokarczuk, Sofia Coppola, early morning light, yoga philosophy and pink color.
