Paul Olmer

Hello! I am an artist, designer, writer, builder, and teacher based in Brooklyn, NY.

My current work revolves around finding small gestures that create space in a playful but meaningful way.

This investigation looks at both real dimensional space (through my design work) and two-dimensional space (through collages and painting). My focus is almost always the space in between things, not the things themselves.

I am a founding partner of the design-build firm Hewn Bros., Inc. and currently teach design classes at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. I like to drink large amounts of coffee in small cups.

Paul has a B.A. from Bennington College in Bennington, Vermont, with a focus in Painting and Poetry. He holds an M.A. from the School of Visual Arts in New York City in Design Research, Writing & Criticism.
