My name is Paul Owen
I live in a small village called Cookham in England by the River Thames, the home of the great British artist Sir Stanley Spencer.
I studied art at Reading college in Berkshire , England , covering all types of art .
Whilst there I also took up a course in Lithographic printing ,where I spent 4 years as an apprentice while still studying art .Because of the need to earn some money the art took a back seat and I spent the next 20 years as a printer , only painting for family and friends , selling the odd piece here and there. After leaving printing I started to work for myself in property , so I had more time to spend on my art , and that is where I am now.
My art is nearly all abstract , using different mediums and textures.I try not to use a brush as in the normal sense , a broom or dustpan brush is the closest I will get to a brush, a saw , filler knife, pieces of off cut wood , anything really that comes to hand.
I also do a lot of photography , mostly black and white , and off any subject.
My influences include, Bram Bogart , Gerhard Richter and Jackson Pollock and on the photography side , it is Paul Strand.
My influences in the big wide world are the beach & the sea , I could sit & look at ...
