Pearl Kinnear

I was born in and am currently based in Glasgow, I did my B.A. (Hons) at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee and went on to complete an MFA at Belfast College of Art. I stayed on in Northern Ireland to become a member of Queens St Studios and began teaching community art workshops through a programme of cross community art. After moving back to Glasgow I have continued community work extensively in and around the city and maintain my own artists practise as a member of Independent Studios in Glasgow.

Even though painting is my mainstay and speciality, experimenting with the process of painting and drawing has meant working within other disciplines like printmaking, artists books, mail art and sculpture too in order to make my work.

Playing and experimentation of materials has always been important in the work I make along with development of the final images, layering of materials being a common theme sometimes providing hidden elements within individual pieces.
