Originally from Malta, Peter Dingli has been living and working in Melbourne, Australia since 1974. After moving to Australia with his family, his interests led him to study photography, however, he soon transferred to sculpture where he worked in forged and welded steel.
He graduated from Prahran College, Melbourne, in Fine Arts, Sculpture in 1985, and gained his Masters in 2005. Soon after graduating , he was a member of Caravan Sculptors, a studio of artists in Richmond Melbourne. Since then he has been working and teaching within the Arts.
He worked as a curator in an indigenous art gallery where he was responsible for the purchase of paintings and sculpture from communities as diverse as the Western Desert Region, The Kimberley and other Northern Territory art collectives.
He now works in wax and casts his sculptures in bronze, using the traditional lost wax technique. His highly collectible pieces, influenced by the impressionists, are inspired by the complexity of the human form.
His art is held in private collections in Melbourne, Perth, Canberra and San Diego, and at the LaTrobe University, Melbourne.
