Petrica Bistran

Poetry, myth, and Romanian folklore play a significant part in the formation of my visual language. My practice involves the construction of ambiguous interventions within a basic landscape painting, to express the experience of nature as a place of both possibility and instability. There is a sense of longing in my work to connect with something more elemental, even primordial, inviting the viewer to wonder at that which is universally most valuable to us, our life on earth.
