Here are some of my recent graffiti paintings. Prompted in part by Genevieve von Petzinger’s pioneering work on man’s early symbolic writing (her TED talk is a great place to start), I have been making work with a selection of both simple and more complex geometric signs. Circles evoke strange fiery planets and stars. Rectangles create objects or become portals for distant spaces. There are other signs too — you will find Extinction Rebellion, dancers and more. While the images evoke objects in distant spaces, I’m keen that the viewer never loses sight of the painting’s surface and the movement of the artist’s hand.
