My work focuses primarily on portraits; capturing and reproducing the essence of the subject is a passionate creative exercise for me, an exercise in scrutinizing and examining the complexities of human beings, attempting to capture in an instant the magic that surrounds each person.

INTRODUCTION: From a very early age Miguel Barros was fond of drawing with pencil, charcoal and Indian ink, he was inspired by the great masters of the Italian Renaissance (Da Vinci, Tiziano and Botticelli) and the Spanish Baroque (Zurbarán, Ribera and Velázquez). He perfected his technique by expanding his knowledge of geometry, perspective, proportions and composition. In the mid-70s he began painting with watercolor, studying color and gradients, combining his applications with Indian ink and pastels. His skills did not go unnoticed, in 1974 he won the Drawing competition at the Collège Jean Jacques Rousseau (Paris). In addition to the Masters of the Italian Renaissance and the Masters of the Spanish Baroque, his influences were diverse; He has a great predilection for Picasso and Salvador Dalí. At the end of the 70s he became interested in the Pop Art movement, following the works of its greatest exponents, Warhol, Hamilton and Paolozzi. At the beginning of the 90s he began with the first computer editing systems, from then on his artistic production transmuted until he obtained his first digital art results. The spectacular evolution of the editors with sophisticated algorithms has allowed them to work on the phenomena of lighting, Sfumato, transparencies, transitions from shadow to light, the treatment of contours; and especially the treatment of color, the complexity of multiple gradients oriented at different levels. ARTISTIC PRODUCTION: Since then, Miguel Barros has perfected his editing techniques with meticulous work. He continues to use the same tools, a computer with a Pentium processor, with different editors. In 2018 he decided to make his artistic creations known, he completed his first collection titled “Gods and Heroes of Mythology” in a classic line, he made a 2nd installment of the same theme in Color. Next comes the Holy Apostles, Oriental Art. At the end of 2020, he presents his first portraits dedicated to famous Hollywood actors integrated into his new collection: Marilyn Monroe, Robert Redford, Paul Newman, Michelle Pfeiffer, Maryl Streep, Marlon Brando, Leonardo DiCaprio, Anthony Hopkins, Jack Nicholson, etc. All works are available in digital format (Tiff, JPG) and printed on Premium quality paper, using the German Etching support (100% acid-free cotton) from the German manufacturer Hahnemühle.
