Born near Barcelona, self-taught, Edra left home at a very young age to settle in places that share a common heartbeat, cities that symbolize the often elusive embrace between two ways of seeing the world. Berlin, Venice, Moscow, Kiev. It was in this melting pot of cultures that two of her great passions began to take shape: photography and painting. Her birth as a painter and also as a photographer, not her consciousness as such, could be fixed in Kiev (2004-2008). Although she never completely stopped painting and photographing, her construction as an artist would be a long process that would unfold only in the inevitable calm of 2020. Painting for her is a response to an impulse and the blank paper, the blank canvas, a world in which she intuitively enters to allow the hidden world to emerge. The fascination she always had for the fusion of cultures that characterized her young age, she now tries to transmit it through her art. In this way, her work merges the Western and Eastern pictorial tradition while navigating from the abstract to the figurative. At the moment she enjoys getting carried away by the fluidity of the ink. This gives her works both delicacy and moments of great expressive violence. She loves to learn daily, experience new languages and use new techniques and materials.
