Searching the Mysterious Side of the Landscape I am retired and living on Long Island in New York, where I now have more time for my artwork, as well as walking and running. I love hiking in state parks and forests. I have a deep love for nature and enjoy spending time in the woods. My current artwork uses professional-grade colored pencils on archival, quality paper, and my theme is "Searching the Mysterious Side of the Landscape" is the theme. I search the woods and forests for particular imagery that I will use as reference material for creating art. The finished piece has the appearance of being otherworldly. Many people have encountered the idea of something beyond our understanding existing in our universe. Some situations remain unexplained and I find this intriguing from a creative standpoint. As I continue working, ideas take shape and subsequently evolve. Discovering the title of the piece holds significance as it encapsulates the outcome of the processed information. It also steers ideas towards cohesion rather than in opposition. When people view my work, they may recognize elements of nature but yet something looks different. The twist reflects the theme of my artwork - a blend of the familiar and the otherworldly.
