The second in a series of gesture drawings focusing on the male form, done in charcoal and pastel. I use the pastel to add detail to certain areas, and the charcoal to outline keep other areas minimal.

Working with pastel, charcoal, and stone, Eastwood explores the psychological terrain between vulnerability and self-preservation or the shifting desire to be seen, and the instinct to hide away. Rooted in lived experience of mental health, Eastwood’s work aims to transform personal introspection into shared understanding. Through figure drawings and expressive sculpture, he examines how emotion inhabits the body, and how those internal states can be expressed in light, colour and form. His selective palette and dramatic contrasts evoke the fragility and endurance within human experience. Often extending into installation, Eastwood’s practice engages multiple senses through sound, scent, and spatial design. These immersive environments invite empathy and reflection, offering glimpses into unseen emotional realities while dissolving the boundary between observer and observed.
