About The Artwork

In this interpretation of the famed sculpture I've attempted to bring the viewer up close and personal with Laocoon's pain as he looks to the Gods for answers. The Laocoon Group has long been considered the among the greatest sculptures of all time. The sculptors have brought us into the moment with an image of great agony and distress which was set in motion by the Priest's betrayal of the gods. My goal in this series is to bring back the human side of this story in order to allow a more personal connection to the struggles and the price that Lacoon has endured. To me, this piece is yet another statement on the struggles we face as individuals in a society that seems to punish those who do what they think is right in the face of popular opinion.
