ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Figure drawing, drawn from life. A linear drawing in pink and black lines. A reclining female nude drawn from multi viewpoints in a kind of flowing morphic cubism. In this complex process I exaggerate, diminish scale as well make transparent to see through and beyond. I am wanting to create a sensual, erotic work with depth of feeling, not a sexual image of simple gratification. It is signed bottom left P Woods 31st October, 1998.

I was born in the UK in 1958. I studied at Saint Martin’s School of Art, London. My main tutor at St. Martin's was Allen Reynolds who encouraged my early hard-edged, geometric work. Post art school I abandoned geometric works for the passion of Figure painting. I set up The Coventry Gallery in London in Shoreditch, East London – an area alive with artists and small galleries, where many YBAs (Young British Artists) lived and socialised. The Coventry Gallery gained a reputation for supporting emerging artists. My artwork rapidly developed into the iconic, recognisable style that holds strong in my work today. I have a love of Art Education and Art Appreciation.
