Drawing on my personal experiences as a mother and the whimsical and layered memories of my own childhood, the coloured pencil works on paper serve as a reflection on the intimate and universal dichotomies we navigate. Through pastel-coloured dream-scapes and misty dunes, contrasted with sometimes eerie, carnival marquees and inflatable structures, my series captures the tension between joyous escapism and the melancholy of nostalgia. The work holds a mirror to the stark dualities of our current era, where the utopian veneer of curated digital lives clashes with the dystopian realities of environmental decline and societal challenges, inviting viewers to contemplate our collective journey through these polarised times.
