The theme of a woman is close to me - her pain, her self-acceptance, her weaknesses and strengths. She surprises, inspires, charges everything around with her energy, the energy of joy or the energy of sadness. I use referents in my work, passing them through myself and interactions, but I don’t just copy them. On the contrary, my goal is to fill it with a new, personal perception of mine. The state of the soul is the main thing, it is in the face, lips, and also the hands of those silently speaking about personal things. Having gone through the school of realism at the institute, I don’t see my main task as making a portrait look similar; I’m more interested in looking deep inside a person without paying attention, and sometimes, on the contrary, I allow random distortions of nature.
