Dana Chodzko won a Ford Foundation scholarship to Otis Art Institute to study Sculpture and Performance Art. She was awarded an NEA grant for a performance piece recorded on video at a Los Angeles television studio, and graduated with a BFA in Intermedia. After landing a full fellowship to Stanford University, she received an MFA in Sculpture and Installation. Her graduate work included collaborations with Nobel Prize winning physicists at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. Chodzko has served as Faculty at various universities, most recently, thirteen years directing the Allan Houser Sculpture/Foundry building at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe NM. She has traveled to international academic institutions as a visiting artist, including Ondokuz Mayis University in Turkey, Australia National University in Canberra, and Calle Bohemia in Colombia, culminating in solo exhibitions and installations. Chodzko's prolific and diverse work is based in form and language, often manifesting as invented alphabets in many different mediums. Complex ideas are conveyed through simple, symbolic forms. Chodzko's mixed media sculptures, public works, installations and site sculptures are held in corporate collections including the Bay Area Rapid Transit, Oakland CA, Calle Bohemia in Armenia Colombia, the National Guard Headquarters, Santa Fe NM, and Adobe Systems Headquarters, San Jose CA.
