Someone asked me if I am a painter, no I am a sculptor who uses paint and other elements. I am interested in each elements properties and chose them for those properties as I would steel or wood. They each have a purpose; I am interested in their natures. A drawing is a process, like playing chess; I have to puzzle out the next move towards a resolution point. It may involve cutting up the original drawing to give a new context. I also use collage; it is the perfect tool for a sculptor. The graphic ability to cut out a shape so well correlates to the ability to build a shape, except one is taking away the other adding too. The content of my work although at first sight may seem very varied, is all about making the unseen seen. I am very much interested in the great exploration of the soul. What does this otherworldly stuff look like? Of late I am much interested in the chakra system and believe that this part is the individual part of each of us that travels with us, through our journey over many lifetimes. I spent five years in an esoteric spiritual school studying various phenomena and practices. I am trying to manifest what I learned there and in succeeding studies as a visual language that will be recognized by the viewer. I am trying to bring souls to the light and I hope that by viewing my work a small spark may light up in the viewer.
