I am a 61 year old artist who has been making art for most of my life. At age 14 I took my first mechanical drawing class and began using mechanical tools to make art almost at once and I continue to use mechanical drawing in my art to the present day. After High School I pursued a degree in Architecture with a minor in Fine Art thinking that I could make a living as an architect and support my art. Instead art became too important and I couldn’t bring myself to work in an architectural office. I then thought I might support my art by teaching. I went back to school and got an MA in The History of Art, focusing on geometry in South Asian temple architecture. After graduation my need to keep making art continued to interfere with my ability to hold even a part time teaching job. In the mid to late 2000’s I was able to build my own house and studio where I keep making art which is all I have ever really needed.
