Covid-19 (2020), is an artwork developed over the course of the pandemic, displaying frontline healthcare workers influenced from various parts of the world, such as the United Kingdom NHS, to Singaporean hospitals. Its aesthetics borrows a clean, flat and elegant shapes, which engenders a sense of universality, in the structural perspective of the interior space. The "box" as it were, represented both a physical and mental state of mind for the artist; as it were, gesticulating a sense of inward empathy, for the frontline healthcare workers, which some have sacrificed themselves in the hope of restoring, other patients/ citizens to good health. The work brings about the idea of solidarity, in every human being, as each holds on to the idea of hope, to survive this pandemic, through a joint effort of self isolation. As observed by the artist, it is during the darkest periods in human history, such as in times of war and crisis, that it brings together the best in every individual, from frontline workers to every citizen, each playing a role in the idea for hope and a utopian ideal. This idea can be seen by the subtle aesthetics in Keane's work.
