About The Artwork

Vermeer, Richter and the likes of Manet have all been inspirational, certainly from the point of view of fabric and this work. This painting was painted from direct observation and a few preliminary drawings. These drawings provided vital information regarding the composition, much like using a photograph. However through the activity of drawing one can engage very strongly with the subject, its dynamics and relationships. This makes the final painting less confusing and allows one to understand the broader underlying structures and forms. This painting was originally started in early Jan 2017 and had to be completely changed and painted again. I originally used a bright pink sheet, but changed for the lavender you see now. This is painted using highest quality oil paint on a robust hand prepared canvas.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I am a painter based in East London (Hackney). I have a small studio and work from arrangements of objects. I usually base my ideas around disposable items, fabric and plastic/containers. Referencing a number of artists from different periods I tend to work from direct observation and use a limited palette. I also sometimes employ and create carefully corriographed photographs and use a camera obscura for compositional purposes. Subjects are selected for their reduced colour. I am interested in ambiguous arrangements of objects and spatial illusion.
