Three layers of Landscape. Figuration and Dissolution. Gray's paintings are superimpositions of three forms of landscape: agricultural/industrial landscapes, urban landscapes such as labyrinths, stations, and transitional spaces, and inner psychological or soul landscapes. The superimpositions, dissolutions, and shifts of the boundaries of these landscapes allow for possibilities of reconnections, such as memory reconstruction or the reprogramming of the self. One senses that the moment in which this painting was created was a ceremony, and this ritual presence is still present in the relic, the canvas. Different aspects of life, such as beauty, horror, and absurdity, are synthesized through the compositions into a mood, a meaning, through which the insight shimmers that we control nothing but influence everything.
