Lisa’s paintings are inspired by nature, atmosphere and meditation with an intuitive process designed to evoke a sense of calm. Rather than depicting specific landscapes, the focus is on capturing the feeling of being in nature. Atmosphere is central to her work. Layers of paint are used to suggest horizons or landscapes without being literal, allowing viewers to interpret the pieces in their own way. Texture also plays a significant role, incorporated to reflect the imperfections of nature. The goal is to create paintings that feel peaceful, powerful and reflective. She grew up in London, studied at Camberwell College Of Arts, and as a child spent a large amount of time in France and Suffolk. “In Suffolk we had a lot of freedom to explore. We learnt to respect the sea and climb trees. It was gloriously wild and the marshes have a weird magic about them which has always stayed with me. There’s a freshness about them and I find the stillness extremely relaxing.” Having lived in the mountains of Canada, Colorado, and then by the coast in Cornwall, the mountains and ocean have had a deep influence on her work, shaping the way she sees and paints landscapes. Though she has since settled in Norfolk UK, the mountains and oceans remain an enduring source of inspiration, shaping her understanding of space, texture, and the depth of landscapes. Her works are owned internationally.
