When I was a small child I would lay in bed at night and hallucinate. I could do this at will. It was as easy as opening a curtain. The hallucinations would begin as high contrast spherical objects, swirling and vibrating and ultimately transforming into more vibrant complex narratives. The visions were so clear it was like I was watching a movie. My younger brother could also tune in with me and follow the same story. We thought this was normal. After I grew up I learned this wasn’t so common, but that children do tend to have heightened abilities that we typically lose when we grow up. I still connect with that ability every now and then but it takes a lot more concentration. I believe subconsciously I’ve been trying to recreate the feeling of these visions in my art. This is why I’m so obsessed with painting black backgrounds with subjects that seem to come out of the dark. This is simply how I see 🪬🌙✨
