Robert King is a visual artist in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Painting reflective compositions in acrylic he explores such themes as light and darkness and moody landscape. He has shown and sold work in Halifax art spaces and on Saatchi Art. He has done commissions for portrait drawings as well. Robert was born and spent his childhood on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia and it’s beautiful landscapes have been a source of inspiration for his artwork. “All my paintings are made using archival quality materials such as 100% cotton duck canvas, fine quality gesso, acrylic polymer emulsion paints, sturdy wood gallery frames.” - Robert King “When painting I’m interested in using the transient effect, something unplanned, incidental to create texture and atmosphere.” - Robert King “Art to me should portray beauty but that might not always be in a way people commonly think. For example it could be the beauty of strangeness and incongruity.” - Robert King “Art speaks in it’s own language, which is visual” - Robert King “I think people respond instantly and viscerally to colour” - Robert King “I paint simply because I love doing it, I can’t explain why. Art can express what cannot be known any other way. Keats said that beauty is truth and truth beauty and that’s all we need to know." - Robert King
