About The Artwork

I have tried to paint this subject to create a sense of admiration and pride for India, a nation which is rich in varied aspects, the magnitude of which could never ever be gauged by any human effort. About this Ajanta painting, let me quote Amrita Shergil, a great Indian painter, who had summed it up so beautifully then... “Modern art has led me to the comprehension and appreciation of Indian painting and sculpture. It seems paradoxical, but I know for certain that had we not come away to Europe, I should perhaps never have realized that a fresco from Ajanta... is worth more than the whole Renaissance!” The Painting has been made in the medium of soft pastels on a prepared surface of the paper for the right textures, colour saturation and brightness. It has also been my attempt to make this medium of painting popular as it is versatile and quite effective. I earnestly wish that you enjoy viewing the painting as much as you would enjoy the sense of pride and admiration associated with the subject.

I am a self-taught artist, who has been practicing art for over 25 years. I started my career as an Asstt. Professor in Zoology and was also a faculty for Photography as an Art Form for Bachelor of Mass Media Course, both at Mumbai University until 2009. I am currently serving in the Indian Forest Service. Presently posted at Dehradun on a Govt. of India deputation. My passion for exploring newer realms of art always keeps me motivated to paint. I try to perceive the beauty of anything surrounding me from a different point of view which makes a statement through my abstracts. My landscapes are generally perceived as poetic with an ephemeral sense of timelessness and quietude. My interest also lies in beautifully capturing the ethos of the places, people, culture, and traditions. My effort to portray the rich cultural heritage of India co through my art has been widely appreciated. This has motivated me in recent times to showcase his art for a larger audience.
