I paint intuitively working with different viscosities of paints and inks in vibrant colors that complement or spar with each other to draw the eye. I don't believe that art should match your decor rather that it should stand out in its own right. I particularly love creating small works of art that...

Originally from the UK, Maggie Golinski has lived in Texas since 2007. She works primarily in alcohol inks, inks, and acrylics as well as resin. She thinks of herself as an intuitive painter, hates a white canvas and loves the vibrancy of colours to be found in nature. Her love of colour means that her abstracts are bright and full of movement. The fast-changing weather of Texas provides the dramatic colourful skies which are the current inspiration for her landscape art. Always colourful, often atmospheric and ever changing, cloud formations and the sky are the focal point in her vibrant, energy filled paintings. Golinski says "I grew up in a small railway town in the south west of England surrounded by rolling hills, ancient pathways, iron age hill forts and mystical monolith circles. I spent my summers at my family’s farm on the outskirts of Krakow where colourful folk art, Polish culture and Krakowian legends such as the smok (dragon) under the walls of the Wawel castle filled my imagination and were depicted in my early forays into art. Since 2007 I have lived in the Dallas area, calling McKinney home, where I enjoy being part of the thriving and inspiring art community. I’m a firm believer that art should not have to match your decor and I love to incorporate vibrant colours and abstract shapes and concepts into my paintings. Nothing makes me happier than painting and being creative; to me art should be joyfully vivid and fun. My personal mantra is the quote “I make art to show my soul that I am listening.” I work mostly in acrylics, inks and resins but occasionally clay and mixed media. I take joy in creating colourful artworks that represent what I see around me and in nature. I love the alchemy of inks and the flexibility of acrylics. I paint every day and view painting as a powerful intuitive, spiritual and creative practice."
