Audrey Angesti paints since she was 6 years old. Although it started as an activity to occupy her time, it has become Audrey's language to communicate her inner life and the beauty of her soul & a joyful medium for her journey in the midst of day to day numerous sensory, physical, mental and intellectual challenges. The painting process brought her calmness and opportunities to build connections with others, something which remains to be challenging for her to do in real life due to autism. Her paintings tell stories of her strenuous journey in finding her place in her family, community, and society. They show her dreams, wishes, inner contradictions, conflicting thoughts, emotional struggles, opposing values, development of attitudes and mastery over her own body. Audrey loves to paint figurative and imaginary characters with expressive unprecedented themes. She always fills-up the canvas at amazing speed instantaneously and her choice of colours is always brilliant. These are some of the uniqueness of her expressions. They silently convey subtle personal messages, touching hearts of their viewers. Although Audrey may not be fully aware, her painting journey has inspired many others with special needs and their families. Her journey gives hope and encourages the special needs community to pursue their dreams too. Thus, her painting has been featured in various exhibitions in and outside Indonesia.
