SHIPPING AND RETURNS

This is a mixed media painting which I made to commemorate the 60th anniversary of World War 2. A that time I got so immersed in the war. I have to say it's one of the most amazing episodes in history. It's amazing because of the indomitable spirit of the human race.

I have been life drawing and painting for over twenty years. For years I worked from models and made mostly short rapid sketches. Over the last six or seven years I have begun to paint more, mainly in acrylic but I tend to use a lot of mixed media as I like to add layers of texture. I went through a phase of painting portraits and more recently, inspired by David Hockney and his work in the north of England, I am painting the landscape around me in Dublin. I live minutes from the Phoenix Park, one of the largest urban parks in Europe, so I have been using it as my main source of inspiration. I paint in intense bursts and usually finish a painting in one sitting which may last 10 or 12 hours. I call myself an occasional artist as I have a day job but painting is a need. I can leave it for weeks but always find myself painting again.
