Shina Choi is a contemporary artist based in California who creates atmospheric paintings that transform observations of nature into emotionally resonant and immersive spaces. Drawing inspiration from landscapes, gardens, changing light, and seasonal color, her work explores the relationship between nature, atmosphere, and emotional experience while inviting a sense of openness and visual harmony. Working across a range of styles, from impressionistic landscapes to highly abstract compositions, Choi approaches each painting as an exploration rather than a fixed formula. Her process often combines traditional brushwork, layered color relationships, fluid passages, and intuitive mark-making, allowing each piece to develop its own visual language. Central to her practice is an interest in creating space. Through color, movement, and composition, she creates spaces that evoke a sense of calm, balance, and emotional connection. Her paintings often suggest places where observed landscapes, memories, and imagined sensations naturally converge. Collected internationally and featured in residential, hospitality, and commercial spaces, Choi's work brings a refined sense of beauty and balance while maintaining the expressive qualities of contemporary painting. Born in South Korea, Choi received her B.F.A. from Hongik University in Seoul and currently lives and works in California.
