Sviatlana Petushkova is an interdisciplinary visual artist, born in 1990 in Minsk, Belarus. In 2020, for protest art, active civic position and participation in protests against dictatorship and violence in Belarus, she was subjected to political repression and forced to flee Belarus, now she is a political refugee in Lithuania. In Minsk, Sviatlana worked as a curator and founded the Belarusian Graphics House, the only graphic printing studio in Belarus. She also served as a curator at the Republican Art Gallery and actively contributed to the development of Belarusian contemporary art by organizing art festivals and cultural events. In 2022, due to her support for Ukraine and political position, Sviatlana was expelled from both the Belarusian Union of Artists and the Belarusian Union of Designers. Since 2022, she has been a member of the Lithuanian Union of Artists, where she actively develops her career, participates in competitions and exhibitions, and continues her creative work and civic engagement. Her artistic practice spans multiple media, including analog photography, printmaking, and spatial installations, exploring themes of migration, identity, acculturation, and the concept of home in a global context. Her art reflects a profound investigation into belonging and security, shaped by her experience as a political refugee and active participant in cultural dialogue.
