I emigrated from Russia nine years ago, now I live and work in south of France. I think a lot what may be considered new, fresh and unprecedented in our time. What could be new after endless post and brut, performances and street art. Tons of protests and pain are thrown onto canvases and other materials; often the literary part dominates the visual. But we've already seen it, it's not new. My position in painting is to turn to its visual component, not to cut people’s souls and also mine with my pain, but to heal with contemplation. I don’t try to put a direct literary or philosophical meaning into painting, but I work on associations and the subconscious, just as it happens in music or poetry.
