Autumn in Gordes in Provence Ah the autumn landscapes with their colors! Autumn colors are, for the painter that I am, like the harvest of the year for the peasant. It may be because these colors, nature needed all spring and summer to make them. In addition, these colors, lit by the autumn lights, when the sun is lower on the horizon, always have something more theatrical, than the colors of other seasons. Here is an autumn landscape, painted in the afternoon in Gordes. I made this painting from the top of the hill looking down, which gives this special view, due to the oblique perspective. Painting done outdoors in September, at the end of the afternoon with a view from the top of the village of Gordes, in the Luberon in Provence Oil painting on canvas,, done with a palette knife.
