This painting was created for the 2019 National Balloon Classic in Indianola. Close friend and pilot Tim McConnell and I had just landed and the envelope was slowly deflating. I snapped a few photos because I knew the fold, wrinkles and colors would be great subject for a painting.

I was an art teacher at the secondary level for 33 years and have been an adjunct professor of art for 15 years at Simpson College. I wrote a newspaper column for 29 years in addition to being avserious, practicing artist. Some of my work is based upon my travels while other work is created from my own surroundings. My studio is in Indianola, Iowa were I also enjoy creating beautiful flower gardens.
