Iva Prlinčević's artistic adventure started at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Arts in Belgrade in 1993. Following several group exhibitions, Iva finally had her own art show, exhibiting her art from the "Portraits" series at the Belgrade’s Youth Centre in 2000. This was immediately after her graduation. Soon after, Iva exhibited her work the Yugoslav Cultural Center in Paris. Peter Omčikus was one of the visitors. Later that year, Iva spent an important month at his studio. Family roots are a frequent motivation of artists, so Iva too walked the line between her family history and her need to express her personal and artistic interests. Iva explored this over the past several years, finally producing her latest series, which includes both her empirical explorations of Mediterranean motives and her fascination with the 1960s films, especially those of such filmmaking masters as Hitchcock. The latter series is intriguing because it is not just about artistic inspiration. It is also about the artistry of this type of frame, about its composition, light, colors. Boldly taking up this challenge, set by herself, Iva constantly balances between pure inspiration and specific film frames, here undertaken in painting techniques. Such courage is another of her artistic qualities.
