The painting invites a sense of calm and reflection, encapsulating a quiet, intimate moment by a campfire. My name is Yerkezhan Kamentayeva, I’m an artist based in Astana, Kazakhstan. I was born in 1992 and have been painting since early childhood - I created my first oil study at the age of 11. Since then, painting has become my language for exploring not only the world around me but also the emotional and inner landscapes of the human experience. I graduated from the Kazakh National University of Arts in 2015, majoring in Fine Arts. During my studies, I was drawn to Impressionism and Symbolism, but over time began integrating elements of magical realism and visual poetry into my work. Some of my key artistic influences include Claude Monet, Zinaida Serebriakova, and Zdzisław Beksiński. Themes of nature, water, and the human soul run throughout my body of work. I often depict figures in abstract or metaphorical environments, as if they are dissolving into the elements or emerging from a dreamlike subconscious. Since 2018, I’ve been working from my own studio in Astana, where I also teach masterclasses in watercolor and oil painting. Over the past five years, my work has been featured in more than 12 group exhibitions, including "The Silk Road of Contemporary Art" in Almaty (2019), "A Bridge Through Space" in Tbilisi (2021), and "Silence and Color" in Warsaw (2023). In 2022, I held my first solo exhibition titled "Depths of Reflection" in Astana, showcasing a series centered around water as a metaphor for memory. For me, art is a way to connect reality with imagination - to give form to emotional states that are hard to express in words. Each piece I create is layered with feeling, story, and symbolism, and I hope viewers find something personal reflected in my work.
