Kirsty Bell x Birdhouse Art Bio Throughout her childhood and teenage years, Kirsty dreamed of becoming an artist. However, growing up in Newcastle in a blue-collar environment her path initially took a different turn. As a film director and producer, creativity has always remained close to her heart, and she never gave up hope of one day reconnecting with her passion for art. Five years ago, she picked up her pens and brushes again and began drawing her favourite subjects – birds. After creating more than 150 bird illustrations, Birdhouse Art was born. Since then, her repertoire has expanded to include over 150 additional subjects, ranging from wildlife to cityscapes and memorable buildings. Her preferred mediums are ink and watercolour techniques – often combined – and her style is clean, defining each subject in all its glory through simple, expressive studies or loose and impressionistic. Kirsty draws inspiration from the natural world and, most of all, from her enduring love of birds — their freedom in flight, the movement of their feathers, and their subtle expressions. While her subject matter has broadened significantly, her dedication to capturing the essence of what she sees remains her central aim.
