Dr. Hala Morris Georges is a designer and researcher with a rich background in academia and professional work. She earned a Ph.D. in Creative Arts from the University of Brighton, UK, and a Master’s in Graphic Design from the University of Creative Arts, UK. Dr. Georges has contributed to numerous esteemed journals in art and design, such The International Journal of Education Through Art. She has been an active member at The International Journal or Literature and Arts Editorial Board and a Fellow at the British Higher Education Academy since 2018. Her artwork has been showcased and discussed globally, spanning countries like the USA, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Germany, UK, Switzerland, France, and the UAE. With teaching experience dating back to 2007, she has served in leading universities across Europe, the UK, and the Middle East, including leadership roles at SintLucas College in the Netherlands and the University of Northampton UK. Several of her students have won prestigious design prizes, such as The Creative Conscience Awards received by four of her Communication Design students in 2023. Presently, Dr. Georges holds the position of Assistant Professor in Visual Communications. She is also the founder of platform, aimed at reflecting current Arabic design trends and culture. Her current focus involves bridging Arabic typography with other languages, notably through her public art project The City Speaks Arabic, set to launch in Seoul, South Korea in May 2024.
